hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.

also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.

anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!

For anyone who has been there since the beginning of this band, you know Richard. We got him as a puppy before we ever played our first show. He was there when we recorded the first EP, he was there at all those house shows, every bonfire party we had, he came to Junction shows, he was there for it all. He loved you all just as much as you loved him. Well now big Dick needs your help. I know you see 100 pleas a day asking for donations for pets, so I understand how annoyed you are reading this, but please understand we love Richard and we will do whatever it takes to help him. As many of you know, Zach is going through some hard times with his broken hip. His hospital bills, surgery bills, and overall care has ran his insurance dry and he’s currently struggling to keep his own head above water. Well now his dog, OUR dog, EVERYONE in Houston’s lovable friend Richard is facing a serious surgery of his own. He has torn a ligament in his knee from jumping out of the window of the car on his way to the dog park (he saw a squirrel that wasn’t straight edge and he was ready to make it respect the X). The tendon tear has left his back left leg unusable. He needs a serious surgery to repair the tendon and put a metal plate in his knee, otherwise he could lose his leg from not using it. He is in pain every day but refuses to quit being the active pup that everyone loves. As you can assume, the combination of Zach’s medical bills and Dick’s upcoming medical bills is A HEAVY load. Seeing a boy and his dog both being hindered by a serious surgery, both receiving new metal parts inside them, is very cute, heart warming, but most of all EXPENSIVE!!! So now we ask your help…
